1,629 diamonds, 90.75 carats between them, every one chosen for its place in the piece.

That is 1,629 individual settings. A single hand carries the whole run, because two setters will always close a grain slightly differently and at this density the eye catches it. At 142.79 grams the piece has to be built hollow where it will not be seen, or it could not be worn for long.

The composition is floral, and the blooms are opened to different degrees so the repeat never reads mechanical. Nothing here is applied after the fact. The structure and the ornament were drawn at the same time, which is why the piece has no unresolved back.
