The flower heads are built separately and set at their own heights, so the surface is never flat. The drop is articulated below the lobe, jointed so it moves independently of the top rather than swinging as one piece. The pearls run along the form, 50 of them, spaced so the metal still shows.
The relief is raised from the reverse with hammer and punch, working the metal up rather than cutting it away. Two stones in one piece means sorting both for colour first, so the rubies do not fight the pearls. 22KT gold is soft to work and unforgiving to finish.
