1,265 diamonds in one piece, each selected rather than ordered to a specification. The pearls are graded against the diamonds for tone first. Stones that read correctly on their own can still fight when they sit together.

That is 1,275 individual settings. A single hand carries the whole run, because two setters will always close a grain slightly differently and at this density the eye catches it. At 122.08 grams the piece has to be built hollow where it will not be seen, or it could not be worn for long.

Nothing here is applied after the fact. The structure and the ornament were drawn at the same time, which is why the piece has no unresolved back.
