The peacock is worked in profile with the tail fanned, and each feather is drawn separately into the metal. The bell is the design. It is raised from flat sheet in two halves, seamed at the waist, and hung so it swings clear of the lobe.

Nakashi work pushes the figures out from behind. The sheet stretches as it rises, so the thickness has to be watched the whole way. 22KT gold is soft to work and unforgiving to finish.
