Kalapi Polki Necklace Set

The bird is shaped in the round rather than in relief, so it reads from the side as well as the front. The set holds together because the earring takes one element of the necklace rather than shrinking the whole thing. The surface is close-set: 2478 diamonds with almost no metal showing between them.

Jadau setting means the gold is warmed and pressed around each uncut stone rather than gripped by claws. Every stone has to go in before the piece cools past working temperature. Two stones in one piece means sorting both for colour first, so the pearls do not fight the diamonds. 18KT gold holds the settings rigid where 22KT would move.
