That is 2,509 individual settings. A single hand carries the whole run, because two setters will always close a grain slightly differently and at this density the eye catches it. 162.58 grams of gold, worked thin behind the design so the weight sits where the wearer can carry it.
The composition is floral, and the blooms are opened to different degrees so the repeat never reads mechanical. Nothing here is applied after the fact. The structure and the ornament were drawn at the same time, which is why the piece has no unresolved back.
