863 diamonds in one piece, each selected rather than ordered to a specification. The emeralds are graded against the diamonds for tone first. Stones that read correctly on their own can still fight when they sit together. A third stone enters at the margins, held back so it accents rather than competes.

That is 1,087 individual settings. A single hand carries the whole run, because two setters will always close a grain slightly differently and at this density the eye catches it.

The design was resolved before the first stone was ordered, so the settings follow the drawing rather than the drawing accommodating the stones.
