175 pearls run to 80.19 carats. None of them were bought to a size; each was selected for where it would sit. The diamonds are graded against the pearls for tone first. Stones that read correctly on their own can still fight when they sit together. The diamonds are white throughout, which sets the boundary the colour is read against.

195 stones, seated one at a time. The spacing is what takes the hours, not the setting itself.

The design was resolved before the first stone was ordered, so the settings follow the drawing rather than the drawing accommodating the stones.
