The bell is raised in two halves and seamed, which keeps the wall thin. The links are graduated, widest at the centre and narrowing toward the clasp, which is what keeps a choker sitting level. 389 pearls cover the face, set tight enough that the ground reads as stone rather than metal.

That is 414 settings, cut and closed one at a time. The pearls and emeralds are matched for tone before anything is set, which takes longer than matching for size. 22KT gold is soft to work and unforgiving to finish.
