Angel's Wing Ruby Diamond Necklace

The line falls and gathers weight toward the centre, which is where the design resolves.

1,549 diamonds, 18.5 carats between them, every one chosen for its place in the piece. 1 ruby carries the colour, and the two are matched to one another before anything is set, which takes far longer than matching for size alone.

That is 1,550 individual settings. A single hand carries the whole run, because two setters will always close a grain slightly differently and at this density the eye catches it.

Nothing here is applied after the fact. The structure and the ornament were drawn at the same time, which is why the piece has no unresolved back.
