545 diamonds in one piece, each selected rather than ordered to a specification. The rubies are graded against the diamonds for tone first. Stones that read correctly on their own can still fight when they sit together. A third stone enters at the margins, held back so it accents rather than competes.

That is 558 individual settings. A single hand carries the whole run, because two setters will always close a grain slightly differently and at this density the eye catches it. 103.71 grams of gold, worked thin behind the design so the weight sits where the wearer can carry it.

Nothing here is applied after the fact. The structure and the ornament were drawn at the same time, which is why the piece has no unresolved back.
