The links are graduated, widest at the centre and narrowing toward the clasp, which is what keeps a choker sitting level. 118 pearls follow the line of the piece rather than filling it.

The enamel is laid on the face and fired, then ground back flush and fired again. That is 223 settings, cut and closed one at a time. Two stones in one piece means sorting both for colour first, so the emeralds do not fight the pearls. 22KT gold is soft to work and unforgiving to finish.
