1,409 diamonds in one piece, each selected rather than ordered to a specification. 102 rubies carry the colour, and the two are matched to one another before anything is set, which takes far longer than matching for size alone. A third stone enters at the margins, held back so it accents rather than competes.

1,562 settings, each cut and closed by hand. Work at that count is measured in weeks at the bench rather than days, and it is given to one setter so the tension stays even across the piece. At 101.32 grams the piece has to be built hollow where it will not be seen, or it could not be worn for long.

Nothing here is applied after the fact. The structure and the ornament were drawn at the same time, which is why the piece has no unresolved back.
