Peacock Diamond Jhumka Yellow Gold Ruby

The bird is shaped in the round rather than in relief, so it reads from the side as well as the front. The bell is the design. It is raised from flat sheet in two halves, seamed at the waist, and hung so it swings clear of the lobe. The surface is close-set: 317 diamonds with almost no metal showing between them.

That is 399 settings, cut and closed one at a time. Two stones in one piece means sorting both for colour first, so the rubies do not fight the diamonds. 18KT gold holds the settings rigid where 22KT would move.
