Mughal Jaali Drop Earrings Gold Plated Silver Zircon

Jaali work opens the surface. The pattern is cut away rather than built up, so the light passes through it. Top and drop are hinged separately. That joint is what gives the movement its second beat.

The lattice is pierced from sheet silver with a saw blade finer than a hair, cut line by line. A slip cannot be filled, only started again.
