1,267 diamonds in one piece, each selected rather than ordered to a specification. 1,000 pearls carry the colour, and the two are matched to one another before anything is set, which takes far longer than matching for size alone. A third stone enters at the margins, held back so it accents rather than competes.

That is 2,328 individual settings. A single hand carries the whole run, because two setters will always close a grain slightly differently and at this density the eye catches it. At 100.07 grams the piece has to be built hollow where it will not be seen, or it could not be worn for long.

The design was resolved before the first stone was ordered, so the settings follow the drawing rather than the drawing accommodating the stones.
