The bell is the design. It is raised from flat sheet in two halves, seamed at the waist, and hung so it swings clear of the lobe. The surface is close-set: 1150 pearls with almost no metal showing between them.

Jadau setting means the gold is warmed and pressed around each uncut stone rather than gripped by claws. Every stone has to go in before the piece cools past working temperature. 22KT gold is soft to work and unforgiving to finish.
