The bell is the design. It is raised from flat sheet in two halves, seamed at the waist, and hung so it swings clear of the lobe. 1040 diamonds cover the face, set tight enough that the ground reads as stone rather than metal.

Jadau setting means the gold is warmed and pressed around each uncut stone rather than gripped by claws. Every stone has to go in before the piece cools past working temperature. The diamonds and pearls are matched for tone before anything is set, which takes longer than matching for size. 18KT gold holds the settings rigid where 22KT would move.
