126 emeralds, 58.11 carats between them, every one chosen for its place in the piece. The diamonds are graded against the emeralds for tone first. Stones that read correctly on their own can still fight when they sit together. The diamonds are white throughout, which sets the boundary the colour is read against.

234 stones, seated one at a time. The spacing is what takes the hours, not the setting itself.

The composition is floral, and the blooms are opened to different degrees so the repeat never reads mechanical. Nothing here is applied after the fact. The structure and the ornament were drawn at the same time, which is why the piece has no unresolved back.
