The lattice is pierced from sheet rather than assembled, so the openwork holds its shape with nothing behind it. The flower heads are built separately and set at their own heights, so the surface is never flat. At 7.73 grams there is nothing spare. Every gram is doing structural work.

Piercing at this scale leaves nothing to correct with. The pattern is drilled, then cut by hand, one opening at a time. 22KT gold is soft to work and unforgiving to finish.
