549 diamonds in one piece, each selected rather than ordered to a specification. 114 rubies carry the colour, and the two are matched to one another before anything is set, which takes far longer than matching for size alone.

663 settings, each cut and closed by hand. Work at that count is measured in weeks at the bench rather than days, and it is given to one setter so the tension stays even across the piece.

The peacock is drawn in profile with the tail opened, each feather worked separately into the metal. Nothing here is applied after the fact. The structure and the ornament were drawn at the same time, which is why the piece has no unresolved back.
