The leaves are shaped one at a time and set at varying angles, so nothing reads flat. A closed circle of even section, which is harder to hold true than a tapered one.

559 diamonds, 29.96 carats between them, every one chosen for its place in the piece.

That is 559 individual settings. A single hand carries the whole run, because two setters will always close a grain slightly differently and at this density the eye catches it.

Foliage runs through the piece as a continuous line, which asks every join between sections to disappear. Nothing here is applied after the fact. The structure and the ornament were drawn at the same time, which is why the piece has no unresolved back.
