342 diamonds run to 8.18 carats. None of them were bought to a size; each was selected for where it would sit. The pearls are graded against the diamonds for tone first. Stones that read correctly on their own can still fight when they sit together.

449 stones, seated one at a time. The spacing is what takes the hours, not the setting itself.

The design was resolved before the first stone was ordered, so the settings follow the drawing rather than the drawing accommodating the stones.
