A closed line at the base of the throat, built to be seen straight on.

1,160 diamonds, 12.73 carats between them, every one chosen for its place in the piece. 60 pearls carry the colour, and the two are matched to one another before anything is set, which takes far longer than matching for size alone.

1,220 settings, each cut and closed by hand. Work at that count is measured in weeks at the bench rather than days, and it is given to one setter so the tension stays even across the piece.

The design was resolved before the first stone was ordered, so the settings follow the drawing rather than the drawing accommodating the stones.
