Why it endures
No two will ever match
A coloured stone is a one-off, so the piece around it is too. The setting is drawn for that stone alone — its proportions, its depth of colour, the way it sits against skin.
It begins on paper
A piece is argued over in pencil long before any gold is cut. Proportion is settled here, and proportion is what you notice decades later.
